Sr. Coordinator – Advocacy

Description of Duties / Responsibilities:

Develop, coordinate and oversee the advocacy strategy and implementation of advocacy initiatives undertaken by GRAAM
Generate advocacy material and advocacy tools of the organization – concept notes, policy briefs, factsheets, presentations, and other documents on identified issues
Work with the research team on compilation, consolidation and organization of evidences for advocacy
Build networks and collaborations for GRAAM with various bodies including Government bodies, professional associations, people’s movements, institutions and individuals (subject experts on public policy, advocacy, etc)
Plan and organize / co-organize events for dialogues among stakeholders, evidence building and dissemination and for furthering the advocacy efforts
Participate and represent the organization in events related to the organization’s areas of interest and where the organization’s identity, experience and messages of advocacy can be shared, promoted and/or furthered
Coordinate annual media workshop
Contribute for updating of organization’s website and social media pages
Plan and organize capacity building initiatives for the team on public policy, its various aspects and advocacy
Support the internship committee in developing intern tasks and responsibilities and selecting interns w.r.t advocacy efforts of GRAAM and mentoring advocacy interns
Any other related assignments may be entrusted by the reporting authority

Skill Requirements:

Passion to work in the development sector and conviction to bring about change
Minimum 2 years of related experience
Must be an outgoing personality and have good networking skills
Must be a team player
Attention to detail and capability to work on multiple projects in parallel
Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills
Savvy with Microsoft Office or equivalent desktop applications, mind-mapping softwares, internet and use of social media for campaigning

Required Qualifications:

a) Education / Professional Qualification
Post Graduate in a social sciences / rural development / management faculty (persons with other faculties with relevant experience will also be considered). Person should have a passion and commitment to work for bring policy or program changes using evidence established by the organization through its research studies. Should have minimum five years’ experience in a research or development organization

GRAAM (Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement) is a not-for-profit public policy research and advocacy organization based in India (Mysore City, Karnataka). GRAAM is working towards advocating policy change based on empirical evidence and research carried out with grassroots perspectives. It also aims to enrich the interaction between the primary players of the society: the community, the state, civil society organizations, & the private sector to ensure sustained development at the grassroots level.
